For the last couple of months 25 colleagues from all 8 of our schools have been taking part in an intensive lesson study training programme. Involving colleagues from both primary and secondary schools working together to unpick and analyse what makes truly effective teaching and learning. It has involved studying current academic research in this area and then joint planning and joint observation of lessons across both phases. It has been a huge success, with colleagues learning so much from each other and from the primary / secondary phase they don’t usually work in.
A huge thank you to Mrs Bentley (based at Brine Leas) and Mrs Martin (Alsager) for all their work to make this such a success. I know our young people will benefit enormously, especially when it comes to issues around primary to secondary transition.
