Alsager Highfields Design Technology Workshops at Alsager School

As we have recently covered, a group of year 5 & 6 pupils from Alsager Highfields completed x3 design technology workshops at Alsager School during the autumn term. The sessions covered food technology, textiles and resistant materials (woodwork). The carousel of workshops finished at the end of last term and they have been a great success. Comments from the pupils include.

  • “Design and technology was a really new and exciting experience.” (Ottilie)
  • Shianne, Arthur, Hayley and Erin enjoyed using the pillar drill when making their toolboxes.
  • “I loved everything about it.” (Scarlett, Rosie, Lillia)

In the textiles workshops, children printed and stitched their own pencil cases. They also developed their own fabric painting and marking skills for a wall hanging that is now up at Highfields. The design was inspired by the works of Edwardo Paolozzi and Wassily Kandinsky. I am sure you will agree from the photos that it looks fantastic!

All the children were a delight to work with and thanks must go to Mrs Birchall, Mrs Sample and Mr Preston for running the workshops. This has been a great example of two schools in our multi academy trust collaborating together for the benefit of our young people.
